June 2020
Initial AnnouncementEA officially announces the return of the Skate franchise during EA Play Live 2020. The announcement generates massive excitement from the skateboarding gaming community after a 10-year hiatus since Skate 3.
January 2022
Development UpdateFull Circle Studio, led by original Skate developers, provides the first major development update. The team reveals their commitment to rebuilding the Flick-It system and creating an authentic skateboarding experience for modern platforms.
July 2023
First GameplayEA releases the first official gameplay footage during Summer Game Fest 2023, showcasing the updated graphics engine, physics system, and the iconic San Vansterdam setting. The community responds with overwhelming positivity.
March 2024
Insider ProgramThe Skate Insider Program launches, allowing selected players to participate in closed playtesting. Initial testing focuses on core gameplay mechanics, control responsiveness, and multiplayer functionality across PC platforms.
September 2024
Always-On PlaytestEA launches the Always-On Playtest phase, expanding testing to include console platforms. This phase introduces persistent servers, cross-platform play testing, and virtual currency systems to prepare for the full launch.
September 16, 2025
Early Access LaunchSkate officially launches in Early Access across PC (EA App, Steam, Epic Games), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. The launch includes the Downtown District of San Vansterdam, full multiplayer functionality, and cross-platform progression.

Full ReleaseBased on Early Access feedback and development roadmap, the complete version of Skate is expected to launch in 2026 with additional content, refined features, and expanded platform support including mobile devices.
